Valve Mentions its “Next Gen” Game Engine (Again)

Valve’s Source engine has been running most of the company’s games for around a decade now, but despite some wizardry being performed on games like Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2, it’s starting to show its age. Which is probably why the company is starting to ramp up the number of times it mentions its Source successor in public.
Back in August, some notes were found in code referencing “Source 2”, then last week, during a fan visit to Valve’s HQ, boss Gabe Newell said that the company was working on a brand new engine, not simply an upgrade to the existing Source Engine (which has been updated several times since Half-Life 2’s release as it is).
I won’t even bother asking what your thoughts would be on what game could possibly debut a new Valve engine.
Gabe Newell Confirms That A Next-Gen Valve Game Engine Is In Development [Lambda Generation]

Richochet 2 is also in development, lol.

This just goes to show Valve’s fear of the number three.
They’re literally going to make a squeal to everything they’ve got before they make the third instalment of anything. Even their engine.

Brb, customizing all the doors in my house.

Portal Fan Makes Kickass Door
Reddit user ThunderMustache has officially impressed the shit out of me — more than any other Reddit user this week. Using only a ruler and black/silver Sharpies, he hand drew his door to resemble a sign in an actual Aperture Science laboratory study. Pretty kickass and seriously impressively awesome.

A waste of time? You bet. It’s a pointless substitute for the real thing, just like candy is a pointless substitute for vegetables, a novel is a pointless substitute for a textbook, sports are a pointless substitute for warfare and recreational sex is a pointless substitute for procreation. But I’m pretty sure that humans who don’t do those “pointless” things become either robots or pack animals.

So, that’s why I play games. Hope that answered the question.

Get cheap games and help a good cause!

Everyone should do this. It includes games like Amnesia and Limbo, and the extra funds go to charities.

More importantly Psychonauts, which reamins like the greatest game of all time.

Games are all DRM free (but you can get steam keys, ‘cause steam rocks) plus help out awesome folks.

Also, if after this you still haven’t played Psychonauts; then bad stuff and you’re a fool. (Leave me alone it’s late)
